I have lived in Arizona for over a year now and finally made my way up to Sedona for the first time ever and wowowow did not disappoint. Sedona is known for not just the red rocks and epic views, but the energy. People come for many reasons, but the energy that radiates truly does have you feeling and leaving more inspired and centered. It’s truly the perfect place to elope. Not just for the beautiful landscape. But because the earth’s energy and the hikes and the views really do center you and inspire you and leave you feeling so energized.
I was so stoked to be able to capture this incredible elopement for Jada + EJ. It was truly unreal. But it was also freezinggggg. But as we all sat shivering during their vows and during bridals, we all were just reminded that it didn’t matter what the weather was like or where we were. What mattered was Jada and EJ and their love.
Jada and EJ have the most incredible story. EJ was actually the one to tell me their story and just hearing it from his perspective and how intentional he was about pursuing their relationship and how it blossomed from friends into true love was beyond heart melting. Highlyyyy recommend not just asking your brides the story, but asking the grooms because wowieeee. My heart was a literal puddle.
The “ceremony” was short and simple. Just Jada + EJ. In one of the most beautiful places. Being completely present – despite the wind and the cold. Just soaking in every single moment of their day. They exchanged short and personal vows and just reminded each other of their love for each other and what has lead up to that exact moment.
Something that I personally love about eloping is that things are much more relaxed. While things are still focused on the couple, there’s always this go with the flow feeling. The feeling that there’s no rush. You might be trying to beat the sun to make sure you get the bridals of your dreams after the ceremony. But things just feel more present. And if there’s one thing I recommend to you for your wedding day….
BE MORE PRESENT
Despite the cold, despite the wind, despite everything that could have worked against us and made the focus of the day and the feeling of the day so different – I am so grateful for Jada + EJ. We really tuned into the moment and focused on being present and feeling fueled by the incredible energy of the views and of Sedona and it was the most magnificent evening ever celebrating these two!
